What Must I Do To Be Saved?

In this bible study, I will be presenting the most important topic in the Bible and that is, what must I do to be saved for Heaven? We can see that in many or most modern day churches, they preached that you must commit your life to Christ, repent of sins, surrender your life to Jesus, and or fruits must be shown via actions to prove that you are saved. Alright, let’s jump into the few common questions and then we will begin by answering each questions by reading Scriptures to see what God has to say.

Ever wonder where you would be and why you are hear? Let’s take a deeper look in Scriptures. Let’s take a look at the time-line chart to get a better perspective on where we are in human history to understand Scriptures in-context:

The map above, shows the dispensations that shows where we are in time. We are in the Church Age of Grace and that age is about to come to a close. To understand how to be saved, let me provide you common questions that people asks over the period of times:

  1. What must I do to be saved for eternity?
  2. Do I need to commit my life to Christ to be saved?
  3. If I backslid, would God remove me from His book of Life?
  4. What does it mean when in Matthew 24:13 where Jesus said that if you endure to the end, you shall be saved?
  5. Who was Jesus speaking to?
  6. What dispensation is the conversation in?
  7. Why did Jesus spoke about enduring to the end to the people?
  8. If I lose faith in Jesus Christ, would I lose salvation after I believed on the Lord Jesus Christ?
  9. What is the gospel that I need to hear or see to believe in Jesus Christ?
  10. What must I do to be saved right now?
  11. Is salvation truly free and if so, why are people so against the simplicity of the Gospel?

Let’s go through each questions and answer them with scriptures and piece them together. Let’s begin.

  1. What must I do to be saved for eternity?
    1. All you have to do is to believe on the Son of God and you shall be saved.
      1. References:
        1. John 6:40 KJV – This is the will of the Father for mankind; to see and believe on the Son and you shall have eternal life. In context, Jesus spoke about the people that currently can see him in person and believe that He is the Messiah and the Son of God.
        2. John 3:16-18 KJV – God’s salvation plan for mankind to those who trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior.
        3. John 3:13-15 KJV – Just as Moses lifted up the bronze serpent on the stick, so the Son of Many must be lifted up.
  2. Do I need to commit my life to Christ to be saved?
    1. No, because if you try to bring in your own works, then grace is nullified and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is void and useless to you.
      1. Romans 11:5-7 KJV – If you rest in faith in God’s Grace through His Son Jesus Christ’s sacrifice then it would be grace and if you bring works, then it nullifies God’s grace.
      2. Isaiah 64:6 KJV – Our works are filthy rags to God, because our flesh is sin and no good to God. He provided a way only through His Son, Jesus Christ.
      3. 1 John 3:11-13 KJV – The author spoke and compared Cain as someone who brought in their own works (fruits of the soil or ground) versus Abel, who brought the lamb (Jesus Christ).
  3. If I backslid, would God remove me from His book of Life?
    1. No, because once you are born again through the Spirit, you cannot be unborn.
      1. John 3:1-10 KJV – Jesus spoke to the leader of the Jews named, Nicodemus and inquired him about being born through the Spirit. Nicodemus didn’t understand the spiritual doctrines that Jesus spoke of and he was questioned of his quality as a knowledgeable person, but cannot understand the spiritual things of God, because the Holy Spirit was not in him.
    2. No, no one can pluck any one out of His hands that trust in Jesus Christ, not even yourself once you are born from the Spirit.
      1. John 6:37-40 KJV – Jesus spoke to His disciples that He would lose none and no one can take them out of His hands.
      2. John 10:27-30 KJV – Jesus spoke about that His sheep hears His voice and they know Him and He knows them. He said to the disciples and other people that the no one can pluck them out of His hands.
  4. What does it mean when in Matthew 24:13 where Jesus said that if you endure to the end, you shall be saved?
    1. Who was Jesus speaking to?
      1. Jesus was referring to the Tribulation or Jacob’s Trouble, which is a resumed Daniel’s 70th Week. He was speaking to the disciples that came after Him to question about when things would happen in the future.
        1. Matthew 24:13 KJV
    2. What dispensation is the conversation in?
      1. This refers to the Tribulation that follows after the dispensation of the Church Age of Grace.
    3. Why did Jesus spoke about enduring to the end to the people?
      1. To let the disciples and the readers know and what to expect if they should encounter these types of scenarios near the end-times.
  5. If I lose faith in Jesus Christ, would I lose salvation after I believed on the Lord Jesus Christ?
    1. No, you will not lose salvation. Salvation cannot be lost and also Jesus will always be faithful even if you are unfaithful to Him.
      1. 2 Timothy 2:12-14 KJV – Jesus will always be faithful no matter if you are unfaithful to Him or not once you became a believer in Jesus Christ.
    2. No, at the moment of your belief in Jesus Christ and His Finished work at the cross through His precious blood that purged all sins, then you are sealed unto the day of redemption.
      1. Ephesians 4:30-32 KJV – Paul spoke to the Ephesians who were believers at that time, to not grieve the Holy Spirit, who resides in them and that they were sealed by the Spirit of God unto the day of redemption (reception of receiving the glorified body and replacing the old flesh that cannot inherit the kingdom of God).
        1. Correlates with 1 Corinthians 15:49-51 KJV – Paul spoke to the Corinthians about how the physical sinful flesh and blood cannot enter the Kingdom of God (perfect). The rapture was spoken of by Paul, the mystery of the snatching away of the Church of Jesus Christ.
  6. What is the gospel that I need to hear or see to believe in Jesus Christ?
    1. The gospel is super simple it goes like this:
      1. Admit that you are a sinner that needs to be saved by Jesus Christ and that your works that are of flesh cannot please God at all.
      2. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ that He can save you through His precious perfect blood, that purged all of your past, present, and future sins as well as purchased you.
      3. Confess (acknowledge) that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of God, and the Christ.
      4. References:
        1. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV – Jesus’ death, burial (3 days), and resurrection on the third day.
  7. What must I do to be saved right now?
    1. Simply repent (change of mind) from your dead works to a belief towards Jesus Christ.
      1. Mark 1:14-16 KJV – Repent and believe the Gospel.
  8. Is salvation truly free and if so, why are people so against the simplicity of the Gospel?
    1. Because their carnal fleshly mind doesn’t understand the spiritual doctrines of God. It requires the Holy Spirit to open their hearts to the truth of the Gospel, which is Jesus Christ.
      1. 2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV – The god of this world blinded those who are in the dark and cannot see the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that Jesus Christ is truly the only way to the Father through Faith.
      2. 1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV – The natural carnal man do not understand the spiritual things of God, because they are spiritually recognized only by the Holy Spirit working inside the person.

Now that you are born through the Spirit in the New Adam, Jesus Christ, you are sealed unto the day of the rapture or when you will get your glorified body at the time of the snatching away of the church!
